You must first download and install emulation software to run our software on an Intel-based MAC computer.  Note that you only need to install the emulation software once – after that, it can be used to install and run all compatible Windows products. The emulators that require a copy of the Windows OS are the most reliable for running our products on a MAC. For further information, see the informative article by Andrew Martin. Please direct any questions you may have to the product manufacturer, as we are unable to provide additional information. Note that we do not recommend any of the products listed below. You will need to decide which if any best suites your needs.
There are several emulation (virtualization) products to choose from. You need to install only one from the list below. If you plan to use one of the free utilities (WineBottler, Wineskin or PlayOnMac, see below), you will need to first install XQuartz for those utilities to install correctly.

      1. CodeWeavers CrossOver for MAC is an inexpensive and reliable commercial alternative to the free porting utilities described below. It has a user-friendly interface which makes it easy to install. It allows you to easily switch between Mac and Windows programs without rebooting, without using a virtual machine and without purchasing a Windows license. Windows programs gain native Mac functionality like copy & paste, keyboard shortcuts, and Mission Control. We highly recommend this product for running all our sewing software. CodeWeavers offers a 14-day free DEMO. Use the Promo-code SEWING when ordering (Get CrossOver) to qualify for a 10% discount. Links for easy-install setups for our products appear on the individual product webpage and are summarized here:

      1. There are several excellent and free porting utilities, WineBottler, Wineskin or PlayOnMac which, unfortunately, do not seem to work with recent Mac OS-X updates beyond High-Sierra (OS-X 10.13). When they do work, these utilities allow the Windows software sold by S & S Computing to run on Mac OS-X and do not require purchasing a Windows license. The only downside of this free emulation software is that some of the features of our software may not function exactly as intended for a true Windows environment.
      2. Free emulators, such as BootCamp© or VirtualBox©, require a copy of the Windows OS (XP upwards will work) to be installed on your Mac.
      3. Finally, commercial emulators, such as Parallels© ($79.99) or VMWare Fusion© ($119.99 on sale), provide a reliable way to host our products. They also require a copy of Windows to be installed on your Mac.
After you have installed one of these emulation products, you can use the Mac Download button (on our product pages) to Save (do not Run) the MAC product installer on your MAC computer. Then use the emulation software to run the Mac installer which will put an icon for the S & S product(s) on the emulator desktop.
